Good to know

Frequently asked questions.

The things people most want to know before their first visit — from how the first appointment works to insurance, the adjustment itself, and care for pregnancy and kids. If your question isn't here, we're always happy to answer it.

01

The basics & your first visit.

What do people come to Landmark for?

All kinds of reasons. Some people come in with something specific — back or neck tension, headaches, posture concerns, sports recovery, or discomfort during pregnancy. Others simply want to stay well and be proactive about their health instead of waiting for a problem to show up.

At Landmark, our gentle, neurologically-focused care works with the nervous system — the master system that coordinates the whole body — to help it function and adapt, so we can meet you wherever you are.

How long does the first visit take?

Plan for about an hour. It's a thorough visit — we'd rather take the time to understand you properly than rush you through.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Not on Day 1. Your first visit is the evaluation — history, exam, X-rays when appropriate, and your report of findings. We want to understand what's actually going on before recommending any care. Treatment begins at a follow-up, once you've seen the findings and decided what's right for you. See the full first-visit walkthrough.

Do I need a referral to come in?

No referral needed — you can book directly. Just complete your new patient paperwork ahead of time and bring your ID and insurance card.

02

The adjustment & how it feels.

Does the adjustment hurt?

No. We use Torque Release Technique — a gentle, low-force, instrument-assisted adjustment. Many people say it feels like a light click. It's the opposite of the aggressive cracking some people picture, and you're walked through everything before it happens. Learn more about the technique.

03

Cost, insurance & care plans.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept BCBS, Medicare, and United Healthcare, and we offer cash-pay and family care plans too. Not sure whether you're covered? Call us at (254) 265-7007 and we'll check before your visit.

Do you offer family care plans?

Yes. We offer family care plans designed to make caring for everyone under your roof practical — so cost and scheduling don't get in the way of keeping the whole family well. We'll walk through the options together at your report of findings, and there's never any pressure to commit.

How often will I need to come in?

It depends on what we find and your goals. After your first visit, we'll explain exactly what we recommend and why — and the decision is always yours.

04

Pregnancy & postpartum.

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Prenatal care is gentle and adapted specifically for pregnancy. Dr. Oestreich is Webster-certified, the adjustment is low-force and instrument-assisted, and positioning is made for a changing body. We don't take X-rays during pregnancy, and many moms receive care throughout all three trimesters.

What is the Webster Technique?

Webster is a specific, gentle chiropractic technique for pregnancy that focuses on balance in the pelvis and the muscles and ligaments that support it. It's a recognized prenatal specialty that takes dedicated certification to perform well — and Dr. Oestreich is Webster-certified.

When should I start prenatal care, and how far along can I begin?

Any time. Some moms start early to stay comfortable as their body changes; others come later in pregnancy looking for relief. There's no wrong time to begin — we'll meet you wherever you are.

Can you help after birth, too?

Yes. Postpartum is a big change for the body, and gentle care can support you as you recover and adjust to life with a newborn. When you're ready, we also offer gentle pediatric care for your baby.

05

Babies, kids & teens.

Is chiropractic safe for babies and children?

Yes. Pediatric care is gentle and adapted specifically for kids. Dr. Oestreich is an ICPA member and PX Docs–certified for pediatric care, the adjustment is extremely light, and parents are always welcome to stay right beside their child.

How gentle is an adjustment for a child?

Very. A child's adjustment is far lighter than an adult's — for an infant, about the gentle pressure you'd use to check a ripe tomato — and it's always adapted to your child's size and stage. Most kids find it easy, and many find it relaxing.

What ages do you care for?

Every age — from days-old newborns through infancy, the school years, and the teen years. Care is always tailored to where your child is in their development.

Why would a healthy child see a chiropractor?

Many parents bring their kids for the same reason they prioritize good sleep and nutrition: to support a well-functioning nervous system and healthy development from an early age — building the foundation rather than waiting for a problem. Others come with a specific concern. Either way, care is gentle and tailored to your child.

Do you take X-rays of children?

Only when they're clinically appropriate. We explain the reasoning before anything happens, and you'll see and understand any findings yourself. For many visits, a gentle exam and our comfortable, radiation-free INSiGHT scan tell us what we need to know.

Can I stay with my child during the visit?

Always — in fact, we encourage it. You're welcome to stay right beside your child and ask questions throughout the visit.
